(SAN ANTONIO, Texas) — San Antonio-based singer-songwriter Bethany Angél is preparing to make a splash of musical color with the debut of her children’s music project Dios Pintó (God Colored) at Expolit – a Christian publishers and media convention to be held May 3-8, 2012 in Miami. The album will be available wherever music is sold on May 1st.
Angél will be performing at the inaugural Expolit 12 family event being sponsored by Entre Ninos, a ministry devoted to training, motivating and connecting those that are ministering to children.
A third-generation missionary, Angél was born in Costa Rica to American missionary parents. She grew up in Mexico with Spanish as her first language, and by the time she was six, she was also fluent in German. Her remarkably varied background has enabled her to move between English and Hispanic communities with complete ease. “Obviously, you have to know the language well,” she says, “but it’s just as important to know and respect the culture.”
Besides languages, Angél also absorbed her parents’ and grandparents’ spiritual zeal. “Even when I was a child,” she recalls, “my parents would find me preaching to complete strangers. My daddy used to tell folks that I was his preacher boy who turned out to be a girl.”
Angél left Mexico at the start of her senior year to transfer to a high school in Irving, Texas. She was eventually introduced to Dove Award-winning producer Isaac Hernandez (Sandi Patti’s Libertad me das) in Miami, who signed on to produce her first album, Pronto Vendrás. But after becoming a wife and mother, she knew that children’s ministry was calling.
“Dios Pintó was truly a labor of love by a team of many,” says Angél. “It was a great experience learning to collaborate with so many talented people and see God pull out of each one of us what he needed for this project. My prayer is that many seeds of God’s love and faithfulness will take root in the hearts of children all around the world. That the children will grow to know a colorful, passionate and exciting Heavenly Father.”
